So….did you recently move to Chagrin Falls?

Moving boxes

Are you trying to figure out all the school procedures, find friends for your kids and (maybe, just maybe) get to know a few friends yourself? I’ve been there. It can make Back to School time stressful. Don’t worry. We’ve got help. This week, the PTO will host a “Welcome to the Neighborhood” coffee event in the Sands Community Room. This event is for new-to-district parents of High School and Middle School kids. (Next week, a welcoming coffee will be held for the parents of Intermediate School and Gurney kids. ) There will be representatives from the schools and PTO members available to answer any of your questions. Hopefully, you will come away with some contacts in your new community. If you are new, please join us! More »

Well…the kids started back. Here’s Gurney on opening day. (Before the crush of people, of course.) I’ve always loved the tiger footprints leading up to the doorway. photo(2)

Summer seemed to fly by in our house. Was your summer too short? Or too long?

Welcome back everyone! Let’s hope for a great year.

Every year, the PTO runs one “product sales” type fundraiser to help raise money for the whole school district. We’ve sold wrapping paper and cookie dough in the past. Both have been successful. I mean….who can resist the lure of cookies like this??cookiestack

Still, we realize that everyone is trying to be a bit more careful with their money these days. If you are going to buy something to support the school, hopefully it is something you can actually USE. SInce everyone is different, we had a hard time deciding what fundraiser would be most popular this year. Luckily, we didn’t have to decide after all. We were able to find a fundraising company that offered three different products in a single sale. We will be selling wrapping paper, cookie dough AND entertainment books. The entertainment books offer coupons to many local companies. I’ve heard that using the Dick’s coupon for $25 dollars off a large purchase can save you as much as the book costs….in a single sporting goods purchase. ( Sounds like a good deal to me – I seem to always be replacing soccer cleats and baseball pants.)

We will also be offering parents the opportunity to make a straight donation to the PTO instead of buying things to support us. If that option works for you, fantastic. We appreciate any support we can get. To see what the PTO has funded with your contributions in the past, look for a future post on this site. When you are considering helping out an organization, it always helps to know what the money has gone for in years gone by.

The district fundraiser starts SOON. Product catalogs will come home with your children on September 9th. The sale runs for 2 weeks. Please consider purchasing something. If you’ve got questions or comments, add them here – or contact the District Fundraising chair.
